I worked with George for about 3-4 years back around 2007-2010 when he taught a visually impaired student on my caseload. He was wonderful with the students in that WESS program, as were all those teachers. I recall George and I both losing our fathers in 2007, to which George made the trip (along with some other special teachers from WESS) to come down to Windsor for my father's visitation, despite having not known me that long. What a great guy?! I knew I couldn't make his retirement party, so I bought him an authentic Hawaiian shirt when I was in Pearl Harbor for him to wear at his party? Wish I had a picture of him in it, if he did..Regardless, George was a great guy, and he will be dearly missed.

Mr Cipu was one of my most memorable and influential teacher's I had at IDCI in the mid 90s. He was a very compassionate teacher to us and had taught us very important fundamentals for not only class but for life too. I haven't saw Mr Cipu since I was in high school but he is definitely the one teacher I've thought about most over the years.

Jeff, David, Chris, so sorry to hear about your dad, and thank you so much for the call too, Jeff. Your dad was such a well-respected, fun-loving teacher to everyone at IDCI. He always knew when guys didn't show up for class because they were working in the field. And he got a surprise visit from a couple of them when HE didn't show up for class when he was working in the field too! He was close to many of his students, and my hubby Jeff and I felt very close too, so much so that we asked him to MC our wedding. Whether called Mr C or just George, all the students who knew him in Ingersoll loved him and respected him. Please know your dad will be fondly remembered by so many beyond the Rodney area. Our thoughts are with your family during this difficult time. Jeff, please give your brothers a hug for us - even if they don't remember us.

At the time we didn’t realize how talented he was. Sure hope he continued to play his entire life. What a gift he had

I knew George best when I was VP at IDCI (Ingersoll District Collegiate Institute) from 1992 to 1995. He was very supportive helping change the school to a place of learning again. I worked as a technical director before I was a vice principal and used to teach machine shop and welding. I scored a lot of welding supplies from industry and shared the supplies with other welding teachers. George always had a story or a joke. He truly cared for his students. The funniest story I remember and can post here was the time he replaced his mailbox post with a steel tube ( illegal you know) as the boys kept hitting it off. Much to their surprise they smashed in their bumper and rad doing it one more time. His interaction with them was so funny... It ended their attacks on his mailbox. And many more.... The driving in the snow storms to work!! The stories of these trips would bring tears to my eyes. George was one of those rare guys you meet on the journey of life. I am proud to say I knew a George most of you do not know and always considered his as a friend even after I moved on to be principal at yet another school.

I am so very sorry and sad to hear of George's passing. I have known George for over 30 years, and we have been good friends as well as co-workers. He and I had talked at the Kiwanis Apartments recently and agreed to go for a drive through the countryside to talk about people and places when spring arrived. George was always happy and upbeat in public, and of course had many friends and acquaintances. I will forever be partially deaf in my left ear (just kidding) as a result of the phone call many years ago, after the Oxford, Elgin, Middlesex and London Boards of Education amalgamated, and George could at last apply to transfer from Oxford to West Elgin, allowing him to come home, and to shave a couple of hours off of his daily drive. I called his school; George was called to the phone in the office and I greeted him. George was talking even louder and faster than usual, in his excitement, as he knew that I was calling him with the results of his recent interview to teach Tech at WESS. When I told George that we would gladly welcome him to WESS he shrieked in my ear in excitement and thanks.
We had many good times together at school, at a soccer coaching clinic, followed by lunch at my house, on his back deck, and eating some of his wonderful, spicy sausage! George was most proud ( and I just thought of this a few days ago when I found a photo of me in welder's garb: helmet, coveralls, with torch in hand) that he had taught his Principal to weld!!
George was always so proud of his entire family, and we offer our sincere condolences in your time of loss.
Forever missed, but never forgotten. Blessings and peace, Larry and Gwen and family.

A high school friend sent me the news of Mr.Cipu's passing. I graduated from West Elgin SS 11 years ago and while I never had Mr.Cipu as MY teacher, I remember he would sometimes supervise classes I was in when one of my teachers were away. Mr.Cipu was fun, loud (in a good way!) and very kind-hearted. He had a big personality and a presence around the school where even if you didn't have class with him, you still knew him and could talk to him. My friends who actually did have classes with him thought he was just the best. No doubt he will be missed very much.
Thanks, Mr.Cipu. Safe journey.

Condolences to the Cipu Family for your loss.
George would truly be missed by all he touched.
Just restarted an e-relationship with cousin George in mid 2019, sharing funny stories and revisiting the memories of the 1960's Hot Rod market and their local owners from back in the day.
I had no idea of any health issues George may have had, last e-mailing together on Thursday.
This was a surprise and a true loss will result from this going forward.

Dear Vera, Flo, and all of the Cipu family. Yes, George will always be remembered for his amazing good humour and kindness. He always had a smile on his face, and certainly enlightened our grade 10 and on classes at West Elgin! He must have chuckled during HIS teaching career as he reflected on the classroom pranks he played back in the day. He will be so greatly missed. As the pain and shock of loss lessens you are all blessed with so many beautiful memories of a man so well loved, and, who loved his family so well.

I'm so sorry to hear of George's sudden passing. The very mention of his name would bring a smile to my face. So many memories of George come to mind as we worked together over decades of teaching technology to throngs of students. George loved every one of them, and with that big smile and heart, he could get work out of kids that other teachers couldn't. George was a gifted teacher and a loyal friend, he will certainly be missed by many friends and colleagues in Thames Valley.

Dear Vera, Flo & Families:
Loetta and I were shocked to read this morning that George has passed from this world. Our thoughts go back to when I was pastor of Rodney Evangelical United Brethren Church. The Cipu family were an important part of the congregation. We have fond memories of our years together. Our prayers are with you in your sorrow and loss.
In February we retired to a lovely retirement home in Woodstock. It is a beautiful facility but the virus has made things difficult not only for Canadians but people throughout the world.
Love and prayers,
Andy & Loetta Brndjar
