Gloria Watson and Family -
I write to express to you and your family the sincere condolences of the Patricias on the passing of Alan William Watson. The Regiment remembers Alan's long service, with the Queen's Own, the Patricias and ending with the Administrative Branch. He extended that service with his years in the Royal Canadian Legion. You and your family I am sure are very proud of that service. His name will be read in 2021’s list of the lost when we read those names out in November 2021 in the Sacred Space in Beechwood, the National Military Cemetery, Ottawa. His name will also be listed in the 2021 edition of the Patrician’s Last Post section.
Thank you for obviously supporting Alan throughout his service and later. We are glad that he had a vibrant family and, we hope, a good life after the army. His obituary certainly says so.
Should any of Alan’s family want to maintain a connection with the Regiment, a gratis three year Memorial Membership in the PPCLI Association is available. Contact Mr Herb Kenny, the Membership Chairman, at hkenny@shaw.ca, for details.
Thank you all.
Brigadier-General Vince Kennedy (Retired)
Colonel of the Regiment
Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry

My condolences to the family. I will miss my "Happy Thursday" guy. He would come to the local variety store every Thursday for his lottery ticket. One of my highlights for the day. My thoughts are with everyone during this difficult time.

We met Al and Gloria when we purchased the property next to them in 1994 and began building our home. From the very first day when they introduced themselves and offered the use of their cordless phone to us a lifetime friendship was formed. Our daughter was born in 1995 and they became a huge part of her life from celebrating little milestones to introducing her to European breakfasts every day before Al put her on the bus at 8:09 every morning. How to you pay tribute to someone who was so important in your life and so loved? RIP Owl, BBHK

Al was my Chief Clerk when I was posted to Lahr in 1982. He patiently helped me and my family adapt to the new environment. I remember one Saturday when he drove me and my late wife around Strasbourg. RIP Al and my condolences to Gloria and your family.

Opa, you were a very sweet man and one I have great memories with. I will do my best to get my son to eat olives like you tried to get me to and eat spaghetti with manners instead of slurping it loudly lol. I wish I could have seen you and wish my son could have met you. I couldn't be more proud to have an Opa like you. Miss you xoxox

Gloria, we are so sorry to hear of Al’s passing. Although we only met him once, it was obvious how much you meant to each other. You both fought hard throughout his illness. Be proud knowing that you were his strong support when he needed you. Our thoughts are with you and your family now.

I did not know your husband, but I can tell what a lovely man he was. From our correspondence,I sensed what a perfect and loving couple you were, and I have no doubt that he could not have been in better hands.
Thinking of you as you mourn the loss of Allan, a husband, father and grandfather whose love made you happy, and gave you strength.
