Gary Fordham

Obituary of Gary Edward Fordham

It is with great sadness that the family of Gary Edward Fordham announce his passing.  Gary Fordham, of Dorchester at the age of 67 will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend of nearly 48 years, Cheryl (Campbell).

Proud father of Jennifer (Mike) Fordham-Mazzocato and Stacey (Brad) Luyks.  Gary was the cherished and devoted grandfather of Lilia and Alaina Mazzocato and Edward, Emma and William Luyks.  There was nothing he wouldn't do for his grandchildren and he will be remembered as the grandpa who celebrated every moment of their lives.  Gary loved to take the kids trick or treating, backyard Easter egg hunting, dance recitals, Christmas parades and making them banana splits and popcorn balls.  Gary loved to make special mini burgers for the kids and ensured that their birthday parties always had a piñata.  Gary shared his love of music with his grandchildren and encouraged them to play.  They would play Happy Birthday to him on the violin and piano.

Predeceased by his parents, Ed and Sarah Fordham.

Gary apprenticed as a truck mechanic at London Motor Products.  He then moved on to work for Weston Bakeries, maintaining the fleet and helping all his co-workers get their vehicles fixed.  His experience, generosity and his passion for customer service was the perfect recipe for the creation of Fordham Truck Service Ltd. in 1994.  Along with his wife Cheryl, daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Mike, the business grew and Gary earned a reputation for being fair and well respected.  The business outgrew its facilities multiple times and the customers were always treated right.  He will be missed by his employees, past and present, who helped with the success of the business.

Gary will be remembered by everyone who knew him as a wonderful and kind family man who was always available to help people in need, no matter the cost.

Gary was also well known for his cooking skills.  From pig tails to barbecue sauce, Gary was a perfectionist and even had some of his recipes published in newspapers across the country.  Gary loved taking a country drive, seeking out new places to eat and then return home with goodies to share with everyone.

Due to Covid-19 regulations, the family will have a private ceremony for Gary. If desired, memorial contributions to the Kidney Foundation or Saint Elizabeth Health Care would be appreciated as your expression of sympathy. Share a memory at www.westelginfuneralhome.com. Arrangements entrusted to DENNING’S OF RODNEY, (519) 785-0810.
