Obituary of Alex Szabo

Peacefully, at Babcock Community Care Centre, Wardsville, on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, Alex Szabo, formerly of West Lorne, passed away at the age of 93.  Beloved husband of Gwen Szabo (née Wilson) for 33 years.  Dear father of Albert (Glenna) Szabo and Debbie (late Don) Rogers and step-father of Rob (Janice) Newman, the late David (Bev) Newman, Wayne Newman and Michael (Carol) Newman.  Cherished grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of 16.  Dear brother of Annie (late Leo) Diedonis and the late John (Fran) Szabo.

Alex lived life to the fullest.  He was an avid golfer, having been an active member at the Wardsville Golf Club for over 60 years.  Alex golfed up until he turned 89 years old.  He also took great pride in keeping his vegetable and flower gardens at his home in West Lorne.  Often Alex’s gardens were used as a backdrop for wedding photos of friends and community members.  If you knew Alex, you knew his infectious smile and witty sense of humour.  He will be greatly missed.
